Fifth annual Generation WORKS

For five consecutive years, the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation has been a major supporter of this citywide day of community service, which brings colleagues together for a day of volunteering. The service day is hosted by Generation W, the nonprofit organization focused on educating, inspiring, and connecting women and girls through various programs and initiatives. The event mobilizes hundreds of volunteers to complete a host of different projects across Jacksonville.

“Through unified initiatives such as Generation WORKS Day, Deutsche Bank in Jacksonville continues to create and maintain sustainable community partnerships,” said Brian Fay, Head of Jacksonville. “We are proud to support Generation WORKS as part of our commitment to making a difference by contributing to the heart of the city and building a community stronger for everyone."

Under the leadership of WOWS-Jacksonville, Deutsche Bank volunteers worked across six sites including four low-income public schools as well as JASMYN, a community partner of Deutsche Bank’s LGBTI employee network, dbPride. The work varied and included painting, landscaping, building benches, classroom makeovers and other organizational projects.

At Arlington Heights Elementary, one of the new schools participating this year, volunteers cleared its courtyard of debris. Mulch was then laid and kid-sized picnic tables were built for use in the courtyard. The school’s cafeteria underwent a makeover with color blocks of alternating primary colors, as well as positive affirmations and decorative dots painted throughout the school.
