Deutsche Bank recognized for LGBTQ leadership
Deutsche Bank earned a perfect 100 on Human Rights Campaign’s annual Corporate Equality Index, reaffirming its status as one of the ‘Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.’
This is the 16th consecutive year that Deutsche Bank has earned top marks on HRC’s internationally recognized survey of LGBTQ workplace inclusion. Kathryn Burdett, Head of Diversity & Inclusion, Americas, said, “We are very proud of this longtime recognition from HRC and what it says about our firm-wide commitment to creating a culture that celebrates diversity and values employees’ whole selves. It is also heartening to see the growing number of other leading companies taking a stand on these issues.”
The CEI survey primarily focuses on companies’ internal best practices—including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits and competency programs. To achieve a perfect score, a company must also have strong partnerships with LGBTQ community-based organizations.

JASMYN: Supportive services organization for low-income LGBTQ youth in Jacksonville
In Jacksonville, where 60% of homeless youth identify as LGBTQ, JASMYN is the only organization in the city that provides outreach and front-door support for this population. Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation is partnering with JASMYN on inaugural programming for its new Safety Net Resource Center facility, which will help meet the immediate needs of homeless youth (e.g., crisis intervention, mailboxes, showers, laundry and warm food) while connecting them with stable housing and other resources. The grant is part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to bringing critical resources and attention to the crisis of student homelessness. Click here to learn more.
The bank also supports JASMYN’s community events, including Strides for Pride and the Coming Out Day Breakfast, and several employees provide ongoing pro bono and nonprofit board service.
Leslie-Lohman: The world’s only cultural institution dedicated to LGBTQ art
Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation is partnering with Leslie-Lohman on an innovative pilot program that promises to make high-need NYC schools safer and more affirming for LGBTQ students, and more conducive for complex conversations about queer identity. This partnership will also develop the organization’s long-term capacity to serve low-income students and their teachers.
Additionally, Leslie-Lohman’s Executive Director is participating in Deutsche Bank’s CSR Leadership Incubator, along with a Deutsche Bank employee who serves on the organization’s board. Anti-Violence Project (AVP): Supportive services and community advocacy organization
Deutsche Bank partnered with AVP on a groundbreaking educational outreach initiative that responded to high rates of reported violence against young LGBTQ New Yorkers of color. At the center of this partnership was an ad campaign profiling several of the inspiring LGBTQ youth of color who volunteer with AVP. The ads gave local LGBTQ youth opportunities to see themselves in a positive, affirming light; provided information about AVP’s education and counseling services; and sparked important conversations about inclusion. The ads ran on bus shelters and phone kiosks in eight underserved New York City neighborhoods with high rates of reported violence against LGBTQ people of color. Heritage of Pride: Nonprofit organizers of NYC’s official LGBTQ Pride events
This June marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, the birth of the modern gay rights movement. Management board members, clients and employees from around the world will join millions of others in New York for this milestone. Deutsche Bank and the Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation have committed a combined $100,000 in support of several NYC Pride/WorldPride events, designed to inform, celebrate the diverse LGBTQIA+ community and promote equal rights under the law.
